Throughout the month of February, each class selected a category to focus within the 2024 National Black History Month Theme of “African Americans & the Arts.” Beechwood students and staff collaborated on activities and projects for the culminating event on Thursday, February 29th with:
-6th graders serving food to the community.
-1st graders learning about the history of, and cooking, hushpuppies.
-TK studying the artist Alma Woodney Thomas, while 8th/K working together on Kara Walker art.
-7th graders building representations of various buildings from studying architects.
-3rd graders creating Keynotes on illustrators.
-2nd graders performing a “soul train” history of music.
